What Will The Year Hold?

I have written this post a number of times in my head as I lay in bed at night or as I shower, ride in the car, drive the car, etc. I have asked Justin and he looks at me like I am crazy but what are your goals for 2011? Will I actually achieve any of them? Should I make any at all or just take it day by day? Last year I made all sorts of goals and then the end of January 2010 my life flashed before my eyes and my goals were re-adjusted. I figured I would do the same thing I did the end of last year.

1.What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before? went on a cruise, was in ICU, resigned from my job after being treated unfairly, went water skiing unsuccessfully, went zip lining, snorkeling, saw the Mayan ruins, had a wedding anniversary, purchased bedroom furniture, went to the Smokey Mountains, to name a few....
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I kept some of them, didn't do most of them...probably will just live this year day to day- not guaranteed the next one. The age old resolution is get in shape. Which I REALLY am going to do.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? yeah lots- it seems like everyone I know is having babies!! To name a few...Ragan had Kinley, Kelly had Jake, Jenn had Noah, Melissa had Jake, Kristen had Colton, Colleen had Ava, Heather had Rowen, Erin had Annabelle and that is to just name a few

4. Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully no. Other than me...but thankfully I didn't actually die...just came close. : )

5. What places did you visit? Lake Conroe, Kingwood, Houston, Bandera, Galveston, Cozumel, Progresso, Smokey Mountains

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? a husband that is home for more than 4 days at a time & health

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? end of January, beginning of February-that is when my life becomes a blur other than ER doctors, oxygen masks, needles, glass walls, hospital beds and breathing treatments- (ie. when I got H1N1 and double pneumonia, my body turned septic and my kidneys begin to shut down)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? surviving.

9. What was your biggest failure? life is about making mistakes and learning from them- no failures, no regrets.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? see number 7 or my moms blog here.

11. What was the best thing you bought? my blog books- here these books will forever be important and wonderful to me and our family

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? my 2nd graders. When I told them I was leaving to go to another school, I was crying and very upset and my little second graders were so strong. They all didn't understand and it didn't take long before they started crying too. Can you imagine your teacher leaving you!?! OMG! But they all took it in stride once the tears stopped- I miss my little second graders.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Bryan ISD. But again...no one can steal my joy.

14. Where did most of your money go? here and there

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? God providing a job for me only weeks after resigning

16. What song will always remind you of 2010? Healer- Kari Jobe Need You Now- Lady Antebellum, California Girls- Katy Perry, By Your Side- Tenth Avenue North and any Casting Crowns Song

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? sadder- I really miss having my own classroom.
b) thinner or fatter? fatter for sure : )
c) richer or poorer? I dunno.....

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? walked in the sun, cooked, and looked for Gods gifts on days nothing was going my way

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? complaining

20. How did you spend Christmas in 2010? Christmas morning with the Jamesons, Christmas Morning Take 2 in Kingwood

21. Did you fall in love in 2010? every day- "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"

22. What was your favorite TV program? Chuck, Modern Family, Cougar Town

23. What did you do for your birthday in 2010? well Justin was gone so we celebrated early by eating Layne's Chicken (my favorite) and him getting me a Wii. The weekend of my birthday my parents and Jessica came to see our house and hang out. We got a cookie cake, played Wii and hung out together.

24. What was the best book you read? well...I have always been in love with Bluebonnet Books so since I have gotten my new job I have read all the bluebonnet winners from 1980-2009. All winners are either about dogs or ghosts. Also, the farther back you get in the years- the longer the books- in the 80's all chapter books- recently all picture books.

25. What did you want and get? Justin always gets me what I want. A Wii is what comes to mind.

26. What did you want and not get? still thinking...

27. What was your favorite film of this year? Toy Story 3

28. Did you make some new friends this year? yeah. all my new co-workers and I love having Kelly so close (we are basically neighbors) and anytime I have a bad day or vice versa she is who I go too.

29.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? a husband who is home and having a full time teaching job

30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? casual and comfy- again I am with children all day- not exactly your suit and heels type of work environment

31. What kept you sane? my faith. God has pulled me from the shadow of death- he is my healer and I will trust him with the smallest of problems all the way to the biggest of problems.

32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I haven't really been into Hollywood this year.

33. What political issue stirred you the most? most everything-

34. Who did you miss? my 2nd grade class and my Grandpa's

35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. Trust the Lord with everything you have. Take your vitamins. Get your flu shot. Being in the Lord's word is worth more than its weight in gold.

Happy New Year!!! See you in 2011!!

Puppies for Christmas

One day I hope to do this to our children...or husband for that matter

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Today I have felt terrible all day. Headache, fatigue blah!! It doesn't help that it has been raining all day. I have at least done a load of laundry. : ) However, I have been having so much fun sitting in bed with my computer and warm clean clothes covering me (I haven't gotten around to folding them yet- I am enjoying them keeping me warm- as is Pip). So I decided I would link up with Jamie at What I'm Loving Wednesday.

What I am Loving on this Rainy Wednesday Afternoon
We have a glass coffee table and I HATE having to clean sweat marks every day off of the coffee table. Tervis Tumblers are a life saver! I love them! We have 4 Texas A&m ones but I am totally eyeing quite a few on this website...such as the #1 Teacher, the anchor (sorority symbol), the cherry blossom with brown lid, the initial collection...oh I really just love all of them.
New Blogs
As I mentioned before I have been highly unproductive today (but yesterday I was really productive all day) ; ) When I got sick at the beginning of 2010 and had to stay home for 6 weeks I found all sorts of wonderful blogs. Well today, I have been finding all sorts of wonderful teacher blogs. I love it! Two of my new finds today are Sneaker Teacher and I teach for a living...whats your super power?
Hubby is going to be home for NEW YEARS!!
This is huge for me. Last year I sat on my parents couch while my mom and dad snored in the new year- Justin was at a well so I was all by my lonesome. Well they couldnt get the proppant they need for the next job so he isnt leaving for awhile!! YIPPIE!!! I am so excited. We already made plans to go and eat with one of my best friends and her boyfriend (who works with J) and then coming back to our house to hang out and eat dessert. Maybe play some Wii games : ) Oh I am so excited I will get a kiss at midnight.

How We Change

Day After Christmas

This morning we slept in- it was wonderful. When we did get up, we got ready and met Elissa & Sam at a restaurant on Lake Houston to eat lunch. It was really nice to eat together and just hang out. After lunch, we went home and packed up the car and headed to Spring to see Carla & Kason. When we got there everyone was playing Kinect on the xbox. We watched them play for a while before we got in on the action. It was a lot of fun. We played a dancing game and battled against each other and then the boys played a boxing game. It was a lot of fun!! And of course, before we left I had to take picture of us all. As you can tell, the brothers were pumped about posing by the entry way tree. : ) However, Carla & I were pleased to pose. hehe. We got back home tonight and since made ourselves dinner, blogged, Justin watching tv, unpacked, and just relaxing at home. Tomorrow we are going to run around town and try and find some after Christmas sales. We shall see what we find.

Christmas Morning Take Two

Once we came home from the Jameson's I made Justin and I go back upstairs and put our pajamas on and sit at the top of the stairs. Justin protested but I insisted. We sat at the top until Dad had turned the fire on and had the camera ready! We had to take our "Christmas morning" photo. (I started a scrapbook of our Christmas card, Christmas eve photo and Christmas morning photo- I got the idea from a blog I read. I can scrapbook one page a year right?)We opened presents and ate breakfast. Santa was good to us. Mom & Dad got us a Keruig machine, and a tripod as our joint present. Justin got a new hat, a jacket, a cashmere sweater, some new loafers, an electric razor (which he is saying he is taking back-hmph) and some other stuff. I got some new boots, a sonicare toothbrush, a new coach wallet, new rainbows (mine were nasty and cracked) and some other stuff. We had such a wonderful Christmas morning!!! The rest of the day was spent hanging out with each other. Mom made a wonderful lunch full of ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, rolls, and my favorite cranberry salad!! YUMMY!!! After lunch, we cleaned the kitchen and watched Avatar. Later that night Elissa & Sam came over and hung out with us for a little while. All Christmas was wonderful- it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Santa came to the Jameson's house last night. Justin and I got up early this morning and drove to their house to see what Santa had brought Avery & Kinley (two of our neices). Kinley is too little to understand (she is only just a little over a month old) but Avery understands. When we got there she was jumping up and down in her bedroom waiting to be able to go see what Santa brought her. She was so cute. She LOVED her baby doll that talks to her and her laptop along with everything else Santa brought her. I was in heaven sitting right here all morning. (please excuse my lack of a neck- I was hunched over in the chair) : ) Ragan got a Zumba game for the Wii. Ragan is who introduced me to Zumba so after all the presents had been opened we turned it on and danced, danced, danced!! We were sweating and out of breath!! We got the boys to try it out as well (except for Justin- he refused, claiming a back injury-pesh!) After working out, Justin and I drove back to Kingwood to have "Christmas morning" again.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was a wonderful day. Justin and I got up and drove to Lake Conroe to spend the day at the lake. It was nice to be able to just sit around and chat for the day.

Around 4 we left to drive to Kingwood for Christmas Eve service. We got to Kingwood, ate a quick snack, got ready for church and drove to the Candlelight Service. The sermon was three things Christmas should be... 1. historic 2. miraculous and 3. personal. It was a nice service but was POURING freezing rain when we got out and the electricity had gone out during the service but we still were reminded of the real reason of Christmas, Christ being born for us. Here is sweet hubby, me and Pip in front of the tree after church.

Mom made homemade lasagna for dinner and insisted we eat in the dining room since it is Christmas. We ate and then hung out, watched some TV before going to bed. Justin and I had an early morning this morning.

Christmas Cookies!!

Thursday night we went and ate dinner with Taylor & Eric and then came home and did a Christmas tradition- we made cut out cookies!! : ) They were cooked perfect. And of course you know Pip wanted in on the action...

Let the traditions of Justin and I begin and continue for many years to come...

Baby Shower

Last Sunday (12/19) one of my friends from Elementary school had a baby shower. My mom, me, one of my old teachers and her daughter hosted it and she was a beaming mommy to be. She was surrounded by all her friends and family and received a lot of wonderful presents. I even took some cute maternity photos for her.

Congrats to the new mommy...when a baby is born, so is a mother.

Little Dylan will be arriving the end of January!!

"Christmas" Morning

This year Jessica & Roy will be spending Christmas in Dallas so since they were in town for the wedding we had "Christmas" morning with them on Sunday morning. Granted, I didn't open my presents and neither did my parents (we are waiting for real Christmas morning and when J will be home) but we opened presents from Jess & Roy and they opened their presents. Mom made a breakfast casserole and dad made cinnamon rolls. But of course, before ever even coming down the stairs we had to sit at the top of the stairs and wait for the "ok" from mom and dad- just like when we were little. Then of course, we had to "race" down the stairs.
Jessica got her "ski" gear. Roy and her are going skiing and Jessica had no ski clothes.Roy got a few sweaters, a PING jacket, some golf balls, and a ping pong set. They got me a super cute hat from Anthropology and got Mom and Dad a Keruig machine.(Dad said he is taking it to his office- mom wasn't too thrilled about that-haha) Justin doesn't get to know what they got him until he opens it. : ) And of course, Pip got in on the fun too. I put him back in his elf costume and he was miserable so Mom took it off him and Dad rescued him...

Wedding Bliss

Saturday afternoon we drove to Magnolia for Jenn & Taylor's wedding. It was at Ashlyn Manor (which is where I had my bridal portraits). Jenn looked glowing and the wedding was beautiful. Mom & Dad @ the receptionJessica giving her speech (sissy was the matron of honor- Jenn was her college roommate). The Bride & Me

The top photo is Saturday night at Ashlyn Manor in front of the same gate the bottom photo is- my bridal portrait. : )

Congrats to Taylor & Jenn!!!

Vistors from Dallas

This weekend has been such a whirlwind!! Friday I drove home and went to dinner with mom and dad at Carinos- it was really good. After we got home, I tried to stay up and wait for Jessica & Roy to get home from the Rehearsal Dinner but I couldn't- my eyelids wanted to do otherwise. I went to bed and woke up early Saturday morning. We had put up the tree over Thanksgiving and had decorated the house and living room but the ornaments hadn't all found their home on the tree yet. So we decorated the tree and Pip watched miserably in his costume. : ) After we finished decorating we opened our annual "present"- our matching PJ's- as long as I can remember Jessica & I have had matching PJ's. (we are both actually wearing pajamas from Christmas past- Jessica in the khaki and me in the purple-ha)

Jessica had to get ready to leave for the wedding and Dad & Roy were going to a graduation luncheon of one of Dad's friends son. While Dad & Roy were gone and once Jessica left for the wedding, Mom and I headed out the door to try to finish our Christmas shopping. After shopping, we came home and got ready for the wedding.

Our Saturday Night

Last night Justin and I watched our niece and nephew. We had fun. Ella and I watched the Princess and the Frog while J and Grayson played PS3. After watching 30 minutes of the movie, Ella decided she didn't wanna watch it anymore, a 3 year old right? So we headed to the kitchen to make a yummy cake. All the while Grayson playing his heart out on the PS3...And while the cake was in the oven we finished decorating our Christmas tree.
And then you know Aunt Lauren couldn't help but play with her camera. : )

1993

Today in 1993, (I was in Kindergarten) my grandpa went to be with Jesus. I wish he could have been around for so many things in my life. Though I may not have been alive for many years before he passed, I know he loved me so much. And I know he is watching from heaven.
You know before my wedding, there had a been a drought all summer. A few days before my wedding I heard the song "Hole in the Floor of Heaven" and laughed to myself and said I would have to just know that they were watching considering the drought...well low and behold it rained and rained on my wedding day. Grandpa and my other Grandpa had to show up and let me know they were watching.

Missing my Grandpa today...

Christmas Comes Early

This past weekend was a blast. I was totally in the festive Christmas mood the whole weekend. Saturday morning Cambrey, Joe & the boys flew in from D.C. to spend the weekend with everyone celebrating Christmas. Justin surprised everyone and came in for the day to see everyone before he had to drive back to the well Saturday night. We went and ate at Koppe Bridge for lunch and hung out at Taylors before going to Target, Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby. It was quite the adventure once everyone left and it was just Taylor, Cambrey and Me. I lost my keys in Target and had the whole store looking everywhere for them- Taylor & Cambrey were great and didn't complain at all or call me an idiot which I kept calling myself. Of course, as soon as we leave (we had given my name and number to the people at the front desk- thankfully we had driven separately), Target calls me to tell me they found my keys. PRAISE JESUS! : ) I had so much fun with the girls.

Sunday morning I got up and went over to Taylors to ride with them to the lake to celebrate Christmas. We got there and started cooking and enjoyed just being together- and another surprise visit from the hubby who drove in again!! The day seemed to fly by and before we knew it- we were opening presents from our siblings and taking pictures. Brad had me as his sibling and he got me a 8 piece wall verbs thingie for the wall that has a bunch of picture slots in it- however when I opened it, he had put pictures of HIMSELF in every picture slot. FIGURES!! It was really funny though. The last time everyone was together was 3 years ago!! We took pictures and this time it was much more difficult that last time. 3 years ago there was not so many grand kids!

So now a recap in pictures...
There was a lot of this.... and this...and of course a wrapped up 2 year old. : )
All the Grandkids- all 8 of them. (and Kason & Carla and J and I haven't even started having kids yet and the other siblings aren't finished either!) Taylor, Eric, Cannon, Gunnar, Grayson, & Ella Joe, Cambrey, Adam & Zachary Brad, Ragan, Avery & Kinley Kason & Carla J, Me & Pip- The WHOLE gang- kids with spouses- all the women in our matching shirts- Hope & Joy to the World the boys in all their shirts which all matched them perfectly- Justin in his "wake me when the holidays are over" because he never sleeps because of his job, Eric was "Bah Humbug", Dan in "Lighting Engineer", Joe in "Feliz Navidad", Brad in "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree", and Kason in "Naughty or Nice"
picture overload- love it! : ) The Holidays have begun!!! I so enjoyed having Cambrey and her family here. Love it when we are all together!
