Week 31: Bump Update

Week 31
May 19, 2014

size of baby: bunch of asparagus 16.2 inches, apx 3.3 lbs

total weight gain/loss: +13

maternity clothes: even my maternity clothes are getting tight. : ( In the beginning of pregnancy I want my clothes to be tight to show off the bump...now they are tight and my tummy hangs out the bottom. FAIL. Unless we are going out somewhere I have running shorts and one of Justin's shirts on at all times. This week we went a few places so I did have to get pretty a couple times ; )

gender: It's a GIRL!

movement: very distinct movements- I can tell that's a butt, that's a hand, etc. Its neat. Justin feels her every night- He always comments that she is rolling around in there. She loves to move as I'm going to bed- not so great for me. I also still get caught off guard and have to yelp OUCH! a number of times during the day

sleep: well I would sleep better if my bladder was larger & I didn't have to pee at least 2 times a night and my 1st born child wouldn't wake up so early

cravings: crushed ice, sweets, snowcones, snickers ice cream, popsicles

what I miss: being so large- I am currently 2 lbs away from where I delivered Ascher. I know its my second kid but I feel so huge compared to Ascher. I think it has to do with the fact that with Ascher I was working so I couldn't just run and get food whenever I wanted/whatever I wanted. This time...I want some oreos...so me and Ascher load up and go get some oreos and I proceed to eat the bag. : )

symptoms: back ache, crampy, Braxton Hicks started BAD on Saturday, swollen feet and ankles towards end of week, lack of patience

thoughts:
  • starting to panic that she will be here in 8 weeks or less & I am NOT ready. With Ascher, I feel like I had everything ready by now. EEEKK perhaps I should go back and read my 31 week with Ascher and see for sure (to ease my mind)
  • worked in her room- going thru clothes, putting gold liner & clothes in dresser drawers
  • went to Bandera for Memorial Day Weekend with Daniel & Megan
Big Brother (Ascher) news:

  • loves the park- went down the big boy slide at the park this week- big accomplishment over here : )
  • Uncle Brad showed him color drops in the bath tub back in November- we finally got some this week and he LOVES changing his bath all different colors
  • loves to sing, "I Love My Mommy!" -- melts my heart

Easter Weekend: Sunday

My last regular post (not baby related) was my Easter weekend post. However, it got long and full of pictures so I figured I would just do a quick recap of the actual Sunday Easter. We got up and went to 8:30 church. Phew. That was a feat in itself but we were so glad we did. The nursery wasn't near as full for Hadley & Ascher and we were done and home before 11 am. Plenty of time for Easter baskets, egg hunts, lunch and time spent together before everyone headed home.

After church before we changed we took some family photos.

The babies were not having being contained so we let them run free and they loved chasing each other thru the banisters on the porch.

Then I wanted to have a sweet moment with my baby girl...just the two of us.

After pictures we let Ascher tear into his Easter basket. He was more excited/concerned that each egg had candy in it and wanted to eat it all. He must have open and re-opened the eggs (once they were empty) 50 times! Every time he'd open an empty one he'd say awww man. We distracted him with the other things in his basket though and he quickly forgot about the candy. (at least for a little while)

before digging in
candy???

the .99 slinky was a favorite of both him & Hadley

such an Ascher face

After baskets, Hadley was ready for a nap so it was just Ascher for the egg hunt. He was ok with that though (more for him..haha- plus Hadley didn't really get it yet). Ascher loved it- again was sad when he would open the eggs and there would be no candy in them.

We ended the egg hunt with some jumping on the trampoline before it was time to go inside and eat a fabulous meal prepared by Mom. She did an excellent job and we all 8 sat at the dinner room table with all the food on the table! After Ascher nap and finishing lunch, we headed home. It was a wonderful Easter weekend and a wonderful time to celebrate that thru death comes new life. He is risen from the grave!! Hallelujah praise be to HIM!

30 Weeks: Bump Update

Week 30
May 12, 2014

size of baby: a large cabbage,15.7 and weighs about 3 lbs (at doc apt she weighed 3 lbs 2 ounces so right on track)

total weight gain/loss: doctor appointment this week was +12 (Nexium has helped me eat like crazy...so here comes the weight gain)

maternity clothes: It has been kinda nice because I'm having to pull out the maternity shirts that are tanks and short sleeves where as I have been wearing the long sleeve, 3/4 sleeve so its like a new maternity wardrobe yet just a different part of the closet. haha

gender: It's a GIRL!

movement: Like literally..I do not remember Ascher being so painful. Like I will be sitting there and have to cry out OUCH! because it hurts so bad. I think it could have to do with how HIGH she is. (she is way higher than Ascher was) Seriously though I LOVE and ADORE all of her movements but sometimes they are a wee bit painful.

sleep: well we were in Kingwood cause Justin had a class and I never sleep as good when Ascher is in pack n play vs crib because he doesn't sleep as good either but overall I did ok comparing to some other weeks when I have MAJOR pregnancy insomnia. Like Friday night...total insomnia.

cravings: watermelon, popsicle, chocolate & skittles, crushed ice (I go to gas station and pay .40 for a 42 ounce styrofoam cup of good crushed ice

what I miss: being comfortable, standing close to the mirror/sink (haha)

symptoms: BACK ACHE!!!, crampy, chin acne (not bad but totally more than usual), charlie horses

thoughts:
  • Doctor apt went great. Got to see her moving around. She is head down (PRAISE THE LORD!) and ready to go. She is weighing apx 3lbs 2 oz and is right on track growth wise. Next appointment is my last set of blood work and TDAP shot. Not a fun appointment.
  • Doctor told me to go ahead and register at hospital along with recommending that once we start my weekly visits (35 weeks) that I always bring my bag with me just in case we stay to have a baby. (AHH SAY WHAT!?) Also, said that after first week of checking and seeing how things are Justin may or may not be advised to come with me to my weekly apts (not sure how we are gonna work that one out...
Big Brother (Ascher) news:

  • We went to Tyler this past weekend for my cousins baby shower (she is due with her 3rd girl the same day as me) and Ascher was FABULOUS. Justin had thing with work (a private lake getaway- don't feel too bad for him) so Ascher came with us to the shower. He was so good. He either sat on mom or mines lap the whole shower and was quiet the whole time. He loved playing with Kaylee & Annabelle (Erin's daughters, 5 & 3) and had so much fun running around their house and backyard after the shower. My little baby is such a big boy!!

29 Weeks: Bump Update

Week 29
May 5, 2014

size of baby: butternut squash, 15.2 inches, 2.5 pounds

total weight gain/loss:  +9

maternity clothes: oh yes! I dont even really like wearing maternity clothes anymore. I want to be in pj shorts and a medium undershirt of Justins. That is how I am most comfy.

gender: It's a GIRL! Still can't decide on her middle name! Driving me nutty!

movement: Oh my word. She is back at it again...big painful movements. I swear she is just rolling back and forth all day. She is a little ninja.

sleep: ehhh hit or miss this week

cravings: bread & sugary sweets (candy, Popsicle, etc), watermelon

what I miss: sleeping soundly, not waking up with a congested nose every morning (allergies to blame I think), my back feeling normal

symptoms: no more heartburn since I started my nexium after my doctor apt last week. Nexium seriously is the best drug ever. I am a different person. I eat like a cow now. : ) However, my back is still the major pain. I wasn't too moody this week (Justin agrees hehe), charlie horses & soooo tired all week ( Felt like 1st trimester tiredness again)

thoughts:
  • Nesting feeling has started to kick in--- however I want to work on stuff that doesn't matter at all. Like a number of nights I went upstairs and worked in the 5th bedroom unloading school boxes (of all my teaching stuff) yet what I really need to do is go thru boxes in the nursery that have Aschers clothes in them/bibs/etc
  • got all the knobs on the dresser however 2 of the knobs had stripped screws so its still not all the way done-- also hung up her canvas from the gender reveal above her changing table and it looks so cute!
  • They called and told me I passed my sugar test!! WooHoo!!
  • Oh...I've been meaning to write this for awhile. My belly button. LOL. It is so weird. With Ascher, my belly button popped out flat. With her, its like a volcano. Its like she is sucking it in and then the skin around my belly button has to make up for the fact that her butt is right there so its a big ol' bump of a belly button
Big Brother (Ascher) news:

  • Got a big boy summer haircut (got a 1.5 on the side and finger length on top) So short but sooo cute!
  • Ascher was quite the little pill this week. This is a photo I sent Justin one day. LOL- I had the phone turned the other way so we could use the flash and had no idea he was making the same face as me.
  • All about mommy this week. Had to be with me, carrying him, sitting next to me, pulling my hair, a loving little boy this week (other than that one day he was terrible ---the screaming photo)

Easter Weekend: Friday & Saturday

Having a child on holidays is so much fun! Easter was no exception. Good Friday afternoon we drove to Kingwood and arrived 30 minutes before Jess & Roy got there. It was pretty outside so we all just hung out in the backyard and let the kids play on the slide, trampoline & bubble machine. They had a blast!

After awhile it was time to come in and get ready for dinner and let the babies take a Papa break on the ipad. The rest of the evening we gave babies baths, put babies to sleep and just hung out.

Saturday morning we took  tried to take photos in the bluebonnets. I had heard that there was ditch in a neighborhood next to my parents that had bluebonnets. Well yes...it did but it was still a ditch. Last year we went to a beautiful field of bluebonnets so I had to lower my expectations. But we still managed to get a few cute ones...

However they were more concerned with the music box, Papa carrying them and playing on the concrete than getting wet & dirty in the ditch.

I made Justin take a family photo with me but by this time the sun was moving directly into our eyes...this was the best we could get.
and I couldnt help but take a shot of my favorite boys walking back to the car...

After our pictures we went to the park, let the babies nap, and then we tried dying eggs a way I had seen on pinterest. Ascher LOVED it. We had a blast. The eggs turned out okay but he didn't care what they looked like- he just had fun making them (& making a giant mess)

trying out our new double stroller on the way to the park

shaving cream & food coloring

After we had dyed our hands, bodies & faces...and oh yeah..the eggs (haha) we used a new pan and put just plain shaving cream in it and let him go to town. He had so much fun. I think we will be doing this project (without the eggs & dye) again soon!

and here was our finished product (well I hadn't wiped the shaving cream off yet, but close enough)

Since this post got really long..I'll do Easter Sunday on its own post.

Daddy turns 32!!

Justin and Ascher are almost exactly 30 years apart. (2 week difference) So shortly after Ascher turned TWO it was time to celebrate Daddy turning THIRTY-TWO! Quite the difference in how we celebrated though. Justin has never been big on birthdays and so after asking 900 million times what he wanted to do and his response always being, "nothing" I finally understood. He really wanted to do "nothing." He wanted to lounge around the house and watch TV and be lazy and not care. Which for Justin NEVER happens. And of course, come Saturday morning he didn't do that either. He lounged around until about 9:30 then promptly announced he was bored. So we headed outside and played outside while Justin piddled around in the yard. Before long he had come up with a project for himself so he ran to Home Depot and got some concrete squares so he could move the grill off the patio.

Ascher was such a big helper. He loved the sand more than the concrete but regardless it was cute to watch Ascher and Daddy build something together. I can only imagine all the many more projects to come.

After more playing and piddling around in garage and yard/flower beds we came inside and despite my pushes of going out to eat Justin refused so we ordered Chilli's To Go and I went and picked it up for us. Whatever the man wanted I suppose. After eating dinner, we had chocolate cake and sang Happy Birthday to Daddy!
Ascher helped Daddy blow out the candles. We didn't eat any then...we waited until Ascher went to sleep and really served it up...yummy!!

It was another fabulous fun family day and I think that is Justin what Justin wanted. Fun with his little family, just being together. Sometimes those birthdays are the most special. Happy Birthday Bubby! We love you!!
