Brynn: 5 months old: 11-30-14

Brynn Madison
5 months old
November 30, 2014

Brynn's Stats
Weight: 13 lbs
Height: 25.5 inches on November 6th
Head: ?- didn't go to doctor this month for head check

Clothing size: 0-3 month still- towards the end of the month some of the 0-3 month clothes started to get too small but mostly every day she still wears 0-3 and even still wears 0-3 month pjs

Diaper Size: size 2- Pampers Swaddlers- Ascher always peed out of his- she has done very good at not peeing out except for a couple of times

Eats: nurses every 3 hours. This month she started on zantac for silent reflux. I emailed our doctor and asked about arching her back and screaming. She would wake up every 1 to 1 and half hours- never sleep during the day and she always acted like she was starving but then wouldnt eat so doctor diagnosed her with silent reflux and put her on zantac 2 times a day. It seems to be helping. She hardly ever arches her back anymore and sleeps much better (kinda). So now she nurses and gets a 2 ounce bottle in the morning with her medicine in it. The rest of the day she just nurses and then at evening feeding I'll nurse her, then she got to eat oatmeal for the first time. (I really wanted to wait until she was 6 months but doc suggested I start it to help with the reflux). After her oatmeal, bath and pjs (45 minutes later or so) she will get another bottle for her 2nd dose of medicine. We will see how much longer I last nursing I enjoy it but she is getting distracted much more and it is draining. My goal was Christmas so we will see how much further I go after Christmas.

Sleeping patterns: She is a TERRIBLE SLEEPER! She does NOT nap during the day. The other day she slept at 9:30-10:15 then didn't go back to sleep until 4 and then only slept for 15 minutes! It was AWFUL. She is pretty consistent about going to sleep at 8pm then will normally wake up between 1-1:45 and I'll feed her and she goes back to sleep until 4ish. I'll nurse her again but this time she has trouble going back to sleep. She tosses and turns and fusses. Its a rough night most nights.  I am defintely ready for some sleep. It doesn't help that both kids go to bed at 8 and Justin and I will stay up until 11 or 11:30 every night. Nap wise like I said before she is awful. She cries the entire way to and from dropping Ascher off at school on Monday and Wednesday because she is so tired but refuses to go to sleep. Drives me nuty in the car.

Routine:
7 am: We get out of bed when Ascher wakes up
9 am:  30 minute nap if someone is holding her- if you put her down she will guarantee wake up.
10- eats again
10-1 plays, cat naps, laughs at brother, she hates laying down so she is getting really good at siting in bumbo chair
1 eats again
1-3 brother naps-you cat nap (longer of your cat naps normally) /we go pick Ascher up from school
4 eats again
4-6 get dinner ready (eat oatmeal towards end of month), play with Ascher, cat nap 30 minutes before you wanna eat again
7-8 eat, bath, bottle, bed
that is a perfect ideal day which probably has happened like 2 times...lol most days are different and most days are fun!

November Dump #1

I really feel like I just might be getting in the swing of things around here and so I just might get caught up. (Haha!) We will see. Maybe I'll separate November dump into 4 posts and do each post a weekly recap & then maybe MAYBE do a weekly review post to get back into the swing of things. Lets try that out..

Week One: (Nov 1-8)

Sunday we drove home from Plano and stopped in College Station to see my inlaws new house (they moved in the Thursday before Halloween). It looks great- still not 100% finished but its beautiful.

Once we got home we had a pretty chill week. I'll let my photo dump do the talking...

Ascher got his first "nurse report" at school. Apparently he ran around a corner and collided with another kid at recess and when he fell he hit his head on the side of the equipment. It looked so sad looking. Could have been much worse- thankful for just a bruise!
sleeping- I love when she props her head up like that
Ready for MOPS in her zebra boots!
Passed out on the way home from MOPS
Pip & Brynn did some bonding this week. He is so protective of her just like he is with Ascher. He loves his babies- even if he is SUPER jealous and acts out because of them.
We worked upstairs in game room enclave. We bought two shelves for up there and I am trying to slowly take his toys upstairs- the problem is when we go play upstairs for every 1 toy I take up there he wants to bring 3 down. We have living room down with toys, his bedroom has toys and the game room. I'm trying to get them in one location. It is taking some time. Especially because there is a gate at the bottom of the stairs so its not like he has free reign to go upstairs.
Tired Daddy

See...so overall the first week of November was pretty unproductive...apparently everyone in my famly got a lot of sleep that week...except for me...go figure : )

Thanksgiving: So much to be thankful for

For Thanksgiving we were so lucky to be able to see both sides of our family. Granted, Brynn was having a REALLY rough week the week of Thanksgiving so by Saturday Justin and I were both exhausted and I don't know how much fun we were but we were with family and thats all that matters. Wednesday we drove to College Station and stayed with his parents. Around 10:30 that night a van arrives and it is his sister who has surprised us all and flown in from Virginia for a couple days. The whole family would be together- which never happens because Justin has 4 other siblings. It is a rare occasion that everyone can be together. Thursday we got up and got cooking- Ascher was exhausted and took a morning nap which worked great for cooking purposes. By the time he woke up all his cousins had arrived so he was READY to play! He has 15 cousins on that side so he was having a blast playing with them all. After lunch, we took a quick family photo before Justin left with Daniel to go to the A&M football game vs LSU (we lost).

After Justin left Ragan, Carla, and I took some photos of the babies. We had three babies born this year. Carla had Korbin in February, Ragan had Everett in May and I had Brynn in June! Crazy- they are so close in age! We love it!

Korbin, Brynn, Everett (Brynn not sure about her aunts jumping around behind me)

Then we took a photo like we did when we were all pregnant in January.

The rest of the afternoon we hung out around the house. Joe took all the kids on a nature walk and they ended up playing all evening in the game room outside. The cousins had so much fun. I felt super sick and Brynn was super stuffy so neither of us felt too hot but we still had a great time.

eating olives Thanksgiving night- singing Daddy finger song while eating each one at a time- cracks me up

Friday morning we got up and told everyone goodbye before leaving ourselves. We drove to Kingwood to see Jessica & Hadley. Roy had flown back to Dallas Friday morning but it was still nice to see Jessica and Hadley. However, by this point in the week Justin and I were at wits end. Brynn was sick and not sleeping at all so we both were exhausted. Ascher was exhausted from playing with his cousins all week so we were a motley crew but we still managed to have a good time.

Since I felt like such poo poo the only photos in Kingwood are on the phone.
