Just Because

I haven't done a just because post in a while. I took some photos of Ascher recently that are just too cute not to share. I just want to remember all the small things we do each day and how blessed I am to be at home with the sweet little munchkin that he is. Oh I just love it. My husband works extra hard so I can have these sweet moments.

We spend a lot of time swinging in the backyard. He could swing all day if I would let him.

We like to make a giant mess when eating.
He has got a big ol' gut. Onesies are almost done- he looks like a little budha baby. Haha
He loves to go into the study and shut himself in. He then presses his face against the glass and makes noises. In this picture he found a Christmas ornament and is eating it. (His mouth was covered in red glitter afterwards-oops) The first time he did it- I didn't know where he was. I could hear him but couldn't see where he was. I hadn't thought to look in the study because normally that door is always shut. He was just standing at the door laughing as I was looking for him!

Those are just a few of the little things that make my day so much fun. To watch his little brain learn and grow and his little personality come out more and more each day. Oh I just love my little man!

Finger Painting

Last Wednesday I went over to Natalies after school and we let the babies go to town on a canvas. We wanted to do it for their first birthdays--- we were only a little late. They loved it. Ascher decided that he needed to "foot paint" and walked across his canvas shortly after he began. They are quite the mess...but a beautiful mess to these mamas!

The finished products:

Natalie hung hers in her bathroom
I plan to hang mine in Ascher's room.

It was a lot of fun and I love making sweet memories like this with our babies. : )

Whirlwind (Finally Caught Up)

This past weekend was a whirlwind! We had a blast but it does feel nice to finally just sit down and relax. Friday Justin worked and Ascher and I were super productive. I knew we needed to leave soon after Justin got home so I hurried around cleaning, packing and doing laundry. We ran some errands, got Aschers hair cut and before we knew it - Justin was home.
We drove to Kingwood and just hung out Friday night. Mom got Ascher a new backpack full of his favorite...balls!!! He loved it! He kept going back to the backpack to get more balls out of it. It was cute.

Saturday morning Mom made breakfast and we all took it easy. Mom was throwing a Grandma shower for one of her friends and I had April's baby shower. April is one of my oldest friends. We became friends in 6th grade Sunday School and have remained friends since then. We went to Brittney Spears Hit Me Baby One More Time tour together, church camps, drives in her convertible and just were together. There were four of us. "The Butterflies!" - Christie, Elissa, April & Me. I have blogged about them before. April is having a little girl due July 18. I can hardly wait! Little girls are so much fun!

After the shower we drove to Pearland to spend the night with Daniel & Megan. Her baby shower was on the same day and the same time so we missed the shower but it was almost better what we did cause we got to talk and go through all her presents with her and separate into piles. She is due July 1 and is having a little boy! I can't wait for him to get here either!! All these babies coming at the same time!

Today we drove home and relaxed for a few hours before we headed to the Cokers to eat steak!! The in-laws were in town to meet with architect again so we ate together. It was beautiful outside and they have a huge backyard so we all played outside until the food was ready. It was sooo good! Eric made a marinade and then a sauce to put on the steak after it was cooked too. DELICIOUS!! It was like a restaurant! After dinner we all went back outside and let the kids play some more. Taylor took some photos on her good camera of the kids on the tree house- I'll have to get them from her later!

Gigi with three of her grandkids- Ella, Emerson & Ascher

It was a fantastic- fast paced- wonderful weekend!! Here's to a great week!!!

Weekend Full of Fun (Last weekend in April)

The last weekend in April Justin had off and we had a fun, busy weekend! My in-laws came up Friday morning and Justin took them to the doctor. They figured they might as well get their doctors here since they are moving here soon. After their doctor appointment we all hung out at the house for awhile, drove around and looked at houses, played in the front yard on his trike, and went to meet with architect.

I had so much fun looking at the house plans and going through room by room. Justin told me I shouldn't talk but thankfully my mother-in-law said she wanted my opinion. : )  I laughed and said I was entertained that we talked for like 20 minutes about the "cat room."

After meeting they went over to Cokers for dinner but Ascher hadn't had a good afternoon nap and was cranky and it was already nearing his bed time so I stayed home and put him to sleep and made brownies for when they got home. When they came back we ate brownies and went to bed not long after.

Saturday morning Justin made us breakfast and we all got ready to go to Graysons soccer game. His last one of the season. After the soccer game we went and ate lunch at McDonalds before going to the parade of homes. I love walking through houses and looking at different ideas. It was a lot of fun. My in-laws are looking for a builder so we looked all different houses built by different people. Ascher had so much fun he passed out in the car before we were done with his cousin, Ella close by.
After the parade of homes we came back to the house and said goodbye to the in-laws. We hung out for a little while then headed over to Kim & Andrews for dinner. The boys grilled while Kim & I took the babies for a wagon ride around the neighborhood. After dinner we found the boys in the playroom with the babies- it delighted our souls to see our hubbys with our babies.
Church on Sunday morning and a lazy afternoon with lots of swinging in the backyard, afternoon naps, and catching up on TV. It was a great weekend after a really long week with a sick baby. Happy to have fun family & friends!!

Sick Baby

So Sunday night after Jordan's shower (in April) Ascher woke up a few times but I just assumed bad dream or something so I ignored it and he went back to sleep. Well talk about worst feeling in the world when I went Monday morning to get him and he had thrown up : ( Thankfully I am pretty sure he threw up in the AM- not the middle of the night but still. He was a mess. I took off his clothes and sheets and put him in the tub. He was not happy & this mom was so sad. I hate seeing him sick. He was poopie the rest of the day and threw up 2 more times.

I called doctor and Tuesday morning we went in. I figured it was just a virus but I wanted to be sure he didn't have an infection or the flu. Yup- just a virus. Which is good but there is nothing I can do for the sweet little baby. He just wants to be held and whine. I hated it. I just wanted to make it better. Plus- he doesn't understand whats wrong. He just knows he doesn't feel good. breaks my heart.

So all day Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday I cared for my sickling. We spent a lot of time changing dirty diapers, eating crackers & water and taking long naps. He was so sad.

However, Daddy coming home sure cheered him up for a few minutes each day before it was back to pouting.

Thankfully by Thursday he was starting to feel a little better. Still cranky but no more throw up! Praise Jesus- that stink does NOT go away easily!! Our AC was having a leak so the A/C guys were here most of Thursday changing our evaporator coil.

Since we couldn't leave the house and I was getting total cabin fever- I tried to have "tot school" with Ascher. I got three different types of paper (construction, computer & tissue) and we got little buckets to sort. Then we went to town tearing the different types and talking about the sounds they made and how they all three felt different. He wasn't too interested. Instead- he wanted to walk with the paper on his feet.
Thankfully by Friday he was basically back to sweet, happy Ascher.

Jordan's Bridal Shower

The third weekend in April (the 20th) was Jordan's Bridal Shower. Friday morning we drove to Kingwood to spend the night there. We hung out and went to Kohls. Friday night I drove to the Woodlands and met the girls at Chuy's. Jordan's flight got in at 8 so we had a late dinner. I just love when we are all together. We didn't stop talking the whole time. We always have so much to talk about! I didn't take a picture the whole night except a selfie before I got out of the car to send to Justin. : )

When I got home on Friday night it was 11:45 and Ascher had just woke back up and Dad was rocking him back to sleep- however, he heard my voice and woke right back up. Well Jennie was about to get there so I just sat in the family room and rocked him- however, he was so excited sleep wasn't on his mind. He had so much fun staying up until 1 am!!!!

Saturday morning I got up and got ready for Jordan's Bridal shower. I left Ascher with mom and dad and headed back to The Woodlands for the shower. It was a beautiful shower! We ate tons of delicious food and cake! Hmmm yummy! Just thinking about it makes me want one of those brownie balls right now!! They were so good!

Here is NANNNY!!!  These girls were my rock all of college. I am so happy that we are all still so close. We group chat every day and sometimes we get over 150 messages! I love it. We are so close! I wouldn't change it for the world!!

After the shower I drove back to Kingwood and hung out with Mom and Dad for the rest of the evening. Sunday afternoon Dad went and got Grandma and brought her over so we could hang out and she could see Ascher.  Jennie, my cousin came back to my parents (she was in town to visit one of her friends) soon after Grandma got there so we all just hung out and chatted for a little while.

Dad went outside and showed Ascher the birds nest in the bush. There are always baby birds in one bush right outside the dining room window. I took pictures of them one Spring and always love to watch as the mama bird works so hard to build her nest and lay her eggs.

However, it was Aschers nap time not too long after Grandma & Jennie got there and I wanted to drive home while Ascher was sleeping so we packed up and headed home. It was a fast, great weekend!!
