Blanket

*Read Shower #1 Blog First*

At the shower on Saturday we were given a blanket that is made just for us. The only time I cried during the whole shower (minus when Verna was crying and made me cry) was when I read this...

Her Card: "A Gift for Your Bridal Shower"

My Dearest Lauren,
I am not sure how or why God chose this blanket for you. Perhaps it is because it was some of your colors, perhaps "camo" fit your theme. My honest feeling is because I see the Godly team you and your honey make. I read your blog and saw the way you give credit to God in all things. So, Lauren, I feel that camo represents the battle you will fight together in upholding God's word in this world that needs him so. You are his Princess Warrior and your honey is the lead warrior for him. I pray you will always be His vessel and vesselette to spread his love for all of us. Just know that as you use this blanket I have prayed a "hedge of protection" for you and your marriage.
Love Always, The Waltons
With the blanket comes this poem which I will hold dear forever...

This beautiful blanket-
perfect for you couch or bed
was made by a simple crochet hook
and some variegated thread.

But oh the tales that it will tell
As weaved throughout these threads
Will be so many memories
Some good and some you will dread.

There will be times you watch tv
And times you are frozen to the bone
The blanket will be wrapped around you
As if to say- It's ok.

There will be times when after a hard days work
You simply collapse on the bed
And stick your feet under the blanket
Lie back and rest your head.

There will be times when you rock your children
And sing them fast asleep
The blanket will cover both of you
And you don't dare make a peep.

There will be times when the blanket is a roof
To cover the greatest forts
Or made into a Batman cape
Or wrapped around dollies of all sorts.

And when one day your 16 year old
Asks to borrow the keys
This blanket will serve you well
As it hides your shaking knees.

I hope through the years this blanket
Will become tattered and full of holes
Please allow it throughout your marriage
To serve many memorable roles.

Thank you, Thank you Mrs. Walton-This will be something that Justin and I cherish FOREVER!
