7 Acre Wood

Today was so much fun. Probably the most fun I've ever had a on a field trip. We headed to Conroe (quite the hike for us but well worth it) to 7 Acre Wood for our last field trip of the year. It was WONDERFUL!! I had been so nervous because I was in charge of planning it and since we had never been there we had no idea whether this place would be a giant BUST! We got there and it was great! They had a pirate ship, a giant playground, a mini putt-putt golf course, petting zoo, western town, zip lines, sand volleyball, little go carts things (that they made move). To say the kids had fun would be an understatement. To say I had fun would also be an understatement.

Tricia, one of my co-workers and good friends said she felt like she was with her daughter she never had that wanted her mom to take her picture everywhere. I was such a kid all day. I LOVED IT! I am such a big kid! Hence the following...

Western Town- I was in jail ; )

Deer eating out of my hand!

Both deer eating out of my hand- LOVE IT! They lick like pupies!

This chicken about pecked the crap out of my hand...hence my face when I was trying for the second time to feed it.

YEAH! Eating like a nice chicken- not pecking me to death
After feeding the chicken one of the boys wanted me to come with him to feed the goats. Well he is feeding this big daddy goat and the goat sneezes. ALL OVER MY LEG! YUCK! That was the end of me hanging out in the petting zoo.

Tricia and I even did the zip line with the kids. We would tell them Teachers Turn! And get up there and the kids would chant and want us to race! It was a lot of fun. Tricia took a picture of me going once by myself. I'll have to get the photo from her and add it on here. It was a lot of fun.

Before long the day had come to an end and we all got back on the bus. It was wonderful- SILENT- ride home. I think every kid but 2 or 3 out of three classes were PASSED OUT! They all had a lot of fun and second grade will be going back next year!!

Tomorrow is the last day of school!!! YIPPIE!! We made it!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!!

I haven't played along in a few weeks- figured why not!? Since today I got something I LOVE LOVE LOVE!! So here we go. However, I do have one thing I am NOT loving today. I'll start with that.

ONE NEGATIVE:
1. Hot Much?
Our AC in our house is currently NOT working. We live in Texas. I'm talking sweat dripping down your face by the time you get to the mailbox or even to the car! Its bad. I called the AC guy and they are supposed to come out sometime today between 4:30-7...great...just how I want to spend my evening.

Now onto the positives...

1. The Final Countdown:
Tomorrow we are going on the 2nd grade field trip. Which I was in charge of planning so I am kinda nervous and hopeful that everything goes off without a hitch. We are going to a place where they will have zip lines, feeding animals, a pirate ship, playground, horseshoes, a western town. Sounds to me like a dream. However, it will be super hot. Hope those kids wear their sunscreen and shorts and bring extra water! And guess what Friday is...THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!! and to make it even better the kids get out at 1:30!!! I am so excited for summer to be here!!!

2. This really should be NUMBER ONE
One of the second grade teachers has moved to be the Art teacher at the new school. His degree is in art so he is thrilled!! Well he was going through all his stuff and decided he didn't need these babies anymore...so I got all 22 of them!!!

I am thrilled beyond belief!! I have always wanted them but at $15 a pop....not happening. And I know I don't have a classroom for next year and I may not get one NEXT year but I will be back in the classroom and I just saved us over $300!!!! You're welcome Justin! ; ) I have been on such a creative kick! I want a classroom of my own again so bad! I miss having the little kids to call my own!!

3. Hunny...I'm Home!!
J's schedule has changed for now. He has been home every night this week! I am most definitely LOVING THAT!!

4. Damage
Last weekend I went home and Mom and I may have gone shopping and done a little summer damage. : ) We got a whoppie pie maker and a mini cupcake maker. (I'll post about this past weekend later tonight.)

5.Weekend
It is memorial weekend this weekend! I can hardly wait to tell you all about our fun weekend!

Blessings

Blessings: Laura Story

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your almighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need,
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things
Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger, when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home
What if my greatest disappointments or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trails of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise

Cake Balls

I know this recipe is all over the Internet but I just wanted to post mine so that I will have it for future reference and will be able to put it in my blog book for this year.

**Cake Balls**

1 box yellow cake mix
1 can cream cheese frosting
Bakers chocolate for melting

Make cake as box calls. Let cake cool completely and then break it into pieces (I leave bigger chunks so it doesn’t get too mushy). I made my cake in two round pans. I broke one cake up into bowl, added can of frosting then broke second cake up. I feel it made it easier to mix everything together.

After mixing put in fridge to get hard. Once you are ready/cake mixture hard, make them into balls. I made 4 plates full. Put in freezer and let freeze.

After balls are frozen dip them into chocolate and put back in fridge/freezer for chocolate to dry and harden.

I didn't have near enough chocolate to coat all my cake balls. I put the leftover balls in the freezer for safe keeping until this weekend when I will go get some more chocolate and dip the rest! : )

Waiting

I have been put in God's waiting room for one reason or another but I must hold onto the fact that though the waiting room sucks God's timing is never wrong.

Mid Week Random

1. Last night I made us Lasagna Soup. It was good and super easy. Basically all it is is pound of ground beef, onion, garlic, green pepper, Italian seasoning, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, some beef broth, water and broken up lasagna noodles. It was good and different. Not the same ol' same ol'.

2. Keep praying. For my daddy bear and for me.

3. Tonight I am going to make Cake Balls. A teacher at school made them today and they were heavenly so I decided  I would try them and bring some to school, let J take some when he leaves and give some to our neighbors. I'll let you know how they turn out.

4. Speaking of sugar- J had a dentist appt today and mine is next week. I am in a panic. I HATE the dentist. My teeth are super sensitive and it freaks me out.

5. More sugar. I tried to make royal icing last week. FAIL. I think I might stick to powdered sugar and water until I can get good. I did make a cute oil rig cookie for J though. I had a lot of fun it was super time consuming though. I am pretty sure it was because I am new and not quite sure what I am doing. I started at 4 and had only iced 6 cookies by 8:30!!! Oops!

6. Word Walking...in preparing for my classroom that God will provide (be it this year, next year, 5 years from now) I cut out 100 feet. I am now in the process of writing the top 100 sight words on each foot (one word per foot). Then the kids will get the feet, make a path and have to say the sight word and use it in a sentence along their "word walk."

7. Presents. Working here has been wonderful. Next Friday is our last day of school which also means my last day of having a job. However, the teachers here are so sweet. They all have been so supportive in me finding a permanent teaching job. And this reaches beyond my 2nd grade team. The speech teacher gave me boxes and boxes of math materials she no longer uses (from when she was a 1st grade teacher) and one of the first grade teachers gave me a giant pile of books! I feel very loved.

8. Summer. As much as it sucks that next Friday will be my last day I am still super stoked about having summer time!! One of the many reasons I love my profession is that we get summers off. (kinda) If I get a job I would love to have the summer to prepare and get organized. I can pray but more than likely that won't be happening in this economy. Anyways, I can't wait for weekend getaways, vacations, crafting, photography, lounging around, etc.

9. Photography. I have been doing photography for some time now but this school year has been rough and haven't really done very much with it. However, before school is out I am going to post a flyer for my photography on our district classifieds. EEK! I think now that I know I won't have a job I really will push myself and my work so that I can make a little income. I have been working on my website.

10. I am thinking Chili's for dinner (gift card from Easter) followed by some homemade cake balls all while snuggling on the couch with my hunny while we watch a movie. Sounds good? Yes I think so.

My Dancing Niece & Confirmed Nephew

I am sorry I have been so bad. I feel like I have only been blogging what we have done during the weekend. There has been a lot going on- just not ready to blog about it yet. Time will tell...
We have had a wonderfully packed weekend. Friday night J was still out of town so I had a lovely evening with my next door neighbor chatting and catching up while our puppies played. We ended up chatting until past my bedtime! I came home and watched some tv in hopes that I could wait up until bubby got home. I only lasted till a little past 12 before passing out. J got home around 2 and passed out.

Saturday we had a fairly normal day. Justin tried to sleep as much as possible seeing that he was only gonna be home for the day.  Once we both had gotten up we had the same as last Saturday. Chores, laundry, lawn, vacuuming car, etc. Around 2ish, Kason & Carla arrived here so the boys went hat shopping and Carla & I got ready (well I showered while Carla did her hair). By the time the boys got back with Laynes we ate and were on our way to Ella's Dance Recital.
She did wonderfully!! She was adorable dancing to Route 66 and another song I can't remember. She was so cute and got so into it. You could tell she was in heaven on the stage. I am so glad I got to be a part of her special day.

Uncle Justin loving up on his sweet niece
Today was my nephew, Cannons confirmation. I was also able to be a part of this special occasion in his life. I went and ate lunch with everyone and then came home for a little while before heading up to the church to be a part of Cannon's confirmation. I didn't bring my camera but will have to get some pictures from Taylor. It was a good service focusing on 1st Timothy 4: 12-16
12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Cannon- I am blessed to be able to be your Aunt and I pray and look forward to what God has in store for you. I can already see how he is using you and what a wonderful man he plans on making you. I am so very proud of you and am even more excited that we will be together in paradise one day...
