It Is Well

So a couple weekends ago Justin and I embarked on a journey to make my "It Is Well" wall come to life. I had bought the letters and this was the weekend we were gonna make it happen. The idea came from pinterest. The girl on pinterest bought her letters from etsy and her letters were different sizes so it fit perfectly on the wall. (It Is was same size, Well & Soul were same size and then With My were smaller).
Here is website and pin.

I however didn't want to spend the money on etsy and so I headed to Hobby Lobby and picked up my letters. I got the IT IS in the smaller letters (apx 4 inch) and then the WELL WITH MY SOUL in the larger (12 inch) letters. They were $3.49 per letter. If I was a patience woman, I would have waited until the "wood" went on half off at Hobby Lobby. However, those letters don't go on sale very often. I still saved money vs using the etsy shop.

So once I had all my letters the whole family headed to the garage to play (ascher) and paint. However, once we got started Justin thought I shouldnt be around the fumes (seeing as I am 5 months pregnant) so I mostly played with Ascher while Justin painted the letters. We painted them all the same color as the wall. I would have NEVER done that had I not seen it on the pin. It gives the wall just enough shadow but its almost like a little reminder that It IS well without shoving it in your face.
So Justin painted the letters and let them dry before going back over with a second coat. All the while, Ascher and I played with chalk and I pushed him in his car. : ) We were such a big help.

Now here comes the tricky part. How are they attached to the wall? OMG. Pain in the rear. I should have just read her blog and would have been done with it but instead I took the long road of buying it, showing Justin, discussing, returning, trying again, etc. Finally Justin went to Lowes and found Command Strip Refills for removable mounting (you've got to watch because some of them say permanent and they will tear your paint off the wall). This seemed to be the cheapest yet most efficient route.

So Justin got back with those and got to work. Now- I would like to tell you that Justin got out his laser level and leveled them all but instead I'll tell you the truth. He eyeballed it. Now I don't recommend this to everyone because if I had done that- it would have been a disaster but he did very well. I was quite impressed. We started with the U in SOUL and worked our way out and up.
It was about this time I realized mine wouldn't look like the Pin I had seen because my WITH MY were just as big as my WELL and SOUL. We laid everything out again and decided to just go for it and it would be fine. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it turned out!! I could NOT have made it happen without my fabulous hubby who did all the hard work. I just had a dream and he made it come true!

So in simple terms you need:
*letters
*command strip refills
*leftover wall paint
*level
*handy husband is nice as well ; )

obviously taken at different angles & with my phone-- sorry : )
