Visiting Nana

The day my MIL and I took Ascher to the doctor (8/15) we brought Nana (Ascher's great grandma) lunch and visited with her for the afternoon. We both agreed we felt like she really enjoyed our visit and was very relaxed. She told us stories of the war, her daddy, her grandparents being missionaries and all types of stories. I got my camera out and started videoing. I know one day these precious memories will escape our mind but now we have them on video! Ascher is lucky to have two great grandmothers still with us!

moving on up...

All these posts are out of order, I am just trying to catch up! : )

Last Saturday (8/11) we headed to Houston to help Kason & Carla move into their new house. Granted, Ascher and I were more moral support than any help but I was so thankful I got to be part of their special day! Their house is BEAUTIFUL!!

Eating Adventures

So on July 26th he started cereal and the doctor told us to slowly start introducing fruits & veggies as well. Oh I could hardly contain my excitement! I couldn't wait for him to eat food! They were hoping it would help with his re-flux to go ahead and start him on food.

7-31-12 first time eating prunes

8-5-12 eating sweet potatoes for the first time
I think he liked them : )
8-10-12 eating carrots for the first time
However, food was not the answer. Not only was he spitting up all his milk, he was also throwing up all his food.  He could NOT keep anything down. I was at my wits end. I couldn't help my baby and he was throwing up all day. I'm not talking a little spit up or even a little re-flux. He was projectile throwing up from the time he finished eating until the time he ate again. Everyone always said oh I've been around spitty babies...haha! They would take him and before long hand him back because he had thrown up so much! Our doctor didn't seem too concerned and kept changing medicine and formula and food and nothing was helping. My mother in law suggested we take him to Justin's pediatrician from growing up. I have heard stories of this amazing unkempt doctor from the time I met Justin. They always talked about how you would never guess what a BRILLIANT man this doctor was so I agreed with her it was an excellent idea to get a second opinion and figure out what was wrong!

So we headed to visit Dr. Low and he told me to take him off all food, no more prevacid and start Neocate. (a formula that insurance has to pay for). So his eating adventures have come to temporary stop. He said he shouldn't eat again until 6 months. Neocate is an amino acid based formula and has been helping so far. Granted he has only been on it for 4 days but he hasn't thrown up near as much! I have been using one bib per feeding instead of five like before. I pray that it continues to work. However, it is SUPER EXPENSIVE. $30/can and he goes through a can every 4 days. I am still nursing him as well so thankfully he doesn't go through the formula as fast as if he was strictly formula.

Pray for us and Aschers tummy- he is a wonderful happy baby but hates throwing up and I don't blame him.

Daddys outfit

Justin's mom had saved a lot of Justin's clothes from when he was a baby and I must say they are so cute!! I couldn't wait for Ascher to fit into them! I almost waited too long! One of my favorites was already too small but another one fit perfect. My favorite outfit of all should fit him now so perhaps tomorrow I will take photos of him. So here is little Ascher wearing his Daddy's outfit!

We went to dinner right after this and I put a little red top under it and he looked even cuter (if that's possible) ; )

Kingwood Trip

The first week of August Ascher and I went to Kingwood cause my sister was in from Dallas and so it was perfect for her to get some practice with a baby. : ) I drove in on Wednesday night once Ascher went to sleep so I had a pleasant drive.

Thursday we hung out at the house and just played with Ascher. He didn't take a nap at all! Elissa came over and hung out for the evening with us. I love hanging out with family! I told Justin that night I felt like I had a two year old who had played hard all day. He was so tired.
Elissa & Ascher
Friday we got up and started planning Jessica's baby shower. We ate breakfast, ordered invitations, discussed details and plans.
I headed back home Friday afternoon since Justin had the weekend off. He was happy to see his sweet baby boy & of course his little wifey : ) Ascher slept the entire way home which I expected after playing so much on Thursday. He even stayed asleep for another hour when we got home. Sleepy baby. Saturday felt like Sunday we just relaxed and hung out as a family.

4 Months- 7-29-12

Ascher
4 months old
July 29, 2012

Ascher's Stats
Weight: 13.8 when took him to doctor for reflux

Height: 23 inches according to tape measure : )

Clothing size: 0-3 months, 3 months (no more NB) Clothing size is annoying to me though because polo 3 months is already almost too small but yet I have an organic brand 3 months that fits in length but is huge on the shoulders.

Diaper Size: 1 till the very end of the month then he started sleeping in 2's. He probably could have switched completely to 2's half way through month but I had half a box of 1's still left so he wore them : )

Eats: stilll eats every 3 hours. Nurses then has four ounce bottle. On July 26 he had his first taste of cereal! We had to take him back to doctor for reflux and she told us to start cereal, prescribed him Zantax and started him on Nutramigen Lipil. He loves food and eats so good! However his new formula smells like fish food. Its so nasty but between the new formula & Zantax he has been spitting up less. Still spits up but not near as much. He also has had pears & prunes. However, I backed off (due to upset tummy) and now he only gets cereal with 1 tpsb of milk, 1 tpsb of prune juice & 1 tpsb of cereal. He likes it.

Sleeping patterns: Still doing well sleeping. Goes to sleep between 8-9, wakes up to nurse at 10 and goes right back to sleep till morning. It really varies- some mornings he wakes up at 7, nurses and goes back to sleep till 10  or some mornings he sleeps till 9 then wakes up for the morning. He takes a nap around noon for an hour and again around 4 for another hour. We are totally creating a monster because he sleeps in the bed between us. We have a king size bed and neither one of us really moves. He sleeps so well when he is in the bed that I leave him there.

Favorites:
*itsy bitsty spider
*eskimo kisses
*pulling my hair
*talking like crazy
*his wubanub
*pulling on things
*baths
*being on his tummy
*A&M : ) He visited the MSC for the first time this month

Dislikes:
- spitting up
- being put down or left alone (he has to be able to see you at all times)
- sleeping in his bassinet
- burping in the middle of bottle
- being awake in the back seat (as long as he is sleeping he is fine but when he wakes up and no one is back there with him- screaming ensues).
