Week 38- The last weekly post!

Week 38
3-23-12

Size of the baby: 7 pounds 7 ounces

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  +15.5 pounds

Maternity Clothes: Is this even a question? Do people really get away with NO maternity clothes!? How do you leave the house!? I can't wait to wear normal clothes again!

Gender: sweet little man

Movement: stretching and moving down- it is totally a little baby in there (I mean I know there has been the whole time but now it is like a BIG newborn size baby in my stomach!)

Sleep: Sunday night I wanted to die. I had contractions from 3-6 am. Not consistent but miserable!! I felt like a boulder was trying to rip through my stomach. I just laid there and cried. I tried to walk around, different positions,

What I miss: just feeling like myself and having my body to myself. I love being able to hold my baby the way no one ever can but at the same time I'm ready to hold him in my arms.

Cravings: chocolate

Symptoms:  exhausted, heartburn, swollen, emotional, contractions, cramping, fatness : )

Big News this week:

****HE IS COMING*****

Tuesday we went to the doctor and I hadn't progressed any and he said my cervix was really strong. He weighed him and he was weighing 7 pounds 7 ounces so he said he wanted to go ahead and induce me instead of waiting till next week because he is just gonna keep growing and with my hip width he would rather get him out  to lessen my risk of c-section soo....today as I write this we are about to go to the hospital. Tonight we will start medicine and he should be here tomorrow!!!

Here is Week 38:

37 Weeks

Week 37
3-16-12

Size of the baby: is as long as a stalk of Swiss chard- whatever that is. According to What to Expect it says a watermelon (19-22 inches and 6.5 pounds)
Total Weight Gain/Loss:  +14 (up one pound from last week)

Maternity Clothes: for work, yes. at home, no. even my maternity clothes are getting to small. my pants refuse to stay up. at home- Justin says I keep stealing all of his shirts. : ) They are all that fit me! However, my weekly photo is in a sorority shirt from college- haha, its just a little tight.

Gender: little baby boy

Movement: not near as much- he is still moving but it is much quieter in there- other than the hiccups. now he stretches out- like pushes his feet out and leaves them out there then pops back into fetal position.

Sleep: whats that? I suppose God is preparing me to function on no sleep because I have been having the roughest time sleeping. Everyone keeps telling me make sure you get lots of sleep now...well that would be great if I could sleep!!

What I miss: sleeping on my back & stomach, being able to walk normal, my clothes, rolling over, my ankles, normal hormones

Cravings: none really this week.

Symptoms:  cramping, backache, emotional, no sleeping, heartburn, belly button has been out for a while now

Big News this week:

*Tuesday- went to weekly doctor appt.- still 80% effaced, dilated 1 cm. However, we did set an induction date. If he doesn't come on his own- his birthday will be April 2nd!! However, it is still possible he could come on his own between now and then but if he thinks he is cozy...April 2 he gets to come out and cuddle with me! : )
*Wednesday- Pip our fur baby turned 4 years old!! I can't believe it has been four years!!

Here is Week 37: I don't think this photo does it justice. It looks so much larger bare belly.

36 weeks

Week 36
3-9-12

Size of the baby: I never thought I would get here. To think a baby starts as a poppy seed and is now the size of a crenshaw melon!!! God is so amazing. According to What to Expect- he is apx. 19-22 inches long and weighs 6.5 pounds

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  +13 (up one pound from last week)

Maternity Clothes: since this week is Spring Break I have hung out around the house in nike shorts and Justins tshirts. It has been wonderful. I'm to the point where I don't like things on my stomach at all. Too tight! If I have gone out, I have worn one of my maternity maxi dresses.

Gender: little baby boy

Movement: sweet movements every day- its such a crazy feeling because now I can really tell what is what and what he is doing in there! Again- I do wish he would move OFF of my bladder though. : )

Sleep: oh how I miss you. rough night on Tuesday night- tried sleeping sitting up, on the couch, on my left side, on my right side....nothing was working. It was a rough night.

What I miss: being able to roll over easily, being able to just get out of bed, sitting for a whole movie without having to get up and walk around, clothes fitting, being able to eat a gummy bear (or anything for that matter) without heartburn

Cravings: none really...oh I take that back. I really have wanted ICEE"s & Blizzards this week!

Symptoms:  heartburn, cramping, braxton hicks, acne (I have never had zits in my life- I don't know what to do with my chin!!!)

Big News this week:
***SPRING BREAK***

*Tuesday afternoon we went to the doctor- I'm between 70-80% effaced and 1 cm dilated. EEK! He said he very well could come before 39 weeks the way I am progressing. : ) WOOHOO! Walk, walk, walk!! Granted I could stay at 1 cm for the next 3 weeks...you just never know! We also talked about inducing Week 39 if he is measuring large and/or to make sure that I have day nurses, that the doctor is there and what not. Every day is just playing it by ear.

*Tuesday, Emma Marie was born!! Natalie is one of my closest friends and her baby girl is absolutely precious!! I can't wait for the two babies to play!
*Wednesday I went and met Emma after Mom & I spring cleaned/deep cleaned the house for the entire day. We are ready if little man wants to come...at least the house is. : )

Here is Week 36: - excuse the streaky mirror & forced smile in both photos- we had just got home from a walk and I was cramping
and just for fun because I feel so large a bare belly shot
And now the big shocker...the collage

35 Weeks

Week 35
3-2-12

Size of the baby: On Tuesday they measured him...he is in the 84% he is already 6 pounds 12 ounces!! That means out of 100 babies measured at 35 weeks he is bigger than 84 of them! And if I get to 90% there is a medical term for it which means "really big baby" YIKES!

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  +12

Maternity Clothes: yeah but I love coming home after school and putting Justins shirts (which are also getting tight) on and my baggy sweatpants. Ahhhh freedom from maternity work clothes...glorious!

Gender: little baby boy

Movement: still moving but not as much as a few weeks ago- getting cramped in there. Doctor said on Tuesday I have a bowling ball on my bladder so every time he moves I cring a little. : )

Sleep: snoring like I'm dying so apparently when I am sleeping I am out cold- however, once I wake up to pee I am awake half the night. Such as Sunday night I woke up and was awake for three hours (granted I had a major headache and had to get up every hour after the first one to pee but still) However, the snoogle pillow has been the best purchase we have ever made. Justin still mocks that he sleeps on a $5 pillow and I have an expensive looking seahorse.

What I miss: my closet- now that it is getting warmer I see all my cute spring clothes and miss them, being able to sleep on my stomach and back, feeling like me

Cravings: chocolate chip cookies (preferably homemade but break and bake worked fine), yogurt & milk

Symptoms:  Snoring- (is that a symptom?) OMG! Justin took a video of me snoring on Sunday night- wow- it was painful to listen too. It sounded like I was dying! Backache- BAD! Heartburn- I am pretty sure I have become a fire breathing dragon. Exhausted- I am ready to go to bed at 8 every night and drag every morning. Headaches- not fun. Miserable- sums it up.

Big News this week:
*Tuesday afternoon we had our first weekly appointment. Progress! I am already 60% effaced! No dilatation yet, plenty of fluid, weighs apx. 6 lbs. 12 ounces (yikes!) Doctor wants me to gain some more weight but its a catch 22 because he doesn't want baby to keep gaining so much. Said he could be here in as little as two weeks- if he keeps gaining weight the proper way he would weigh almost 9 pounds in two weeks! Yikes! Here is his sweet BIG foot we saw on Tuesday... (doctor told us we have a little Fred Flinstone)

* After the doctor on Tuesday we went and had our last date night at Rosas before our last class which really was a tour of the hospital not a class. Considering we had already been there last Friday evening we kinda had already seen it but it was nice to walk through everything with a L&D nurse again.

*Thursday my team at school threw us a boy themed baby shower. It was a come and go shower in the library from 11-1 with all sorts of desserts!! It was delicious!! They tired to make most of the desserts boy themed like "puppy chow" and  "Dirt". It was super cute and I felt very loved by my teammates!!

Blue Man Weekend

This weekend we had so much fun. After leaving the ER we hurried home, got ready, ate some dinner that Kason & Carla so kindly picked up for us. We hurried and left for the Blue Man Group. It was so awesome. They were so good. It was a two hour show but when it was over we all felt like it had just started. I would highly recommended seeing them live if you ever get the chance! They were awesome!!
Carla & I before the show started (taken with her phone)
Justin and I before the show. Right after this they came and told me we had to put our cameras away. Hmph.

Saturday morning we got up and went to Lake Conroe for the day to see Cambrey, (Justin sister) and her family who were down from Virginia for a surprise visit!  It worked out perfectly. They flew in Thursday night and were leaving Saturday evening so it was neat that we all were able to see each other at some point during their stay. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the time together.

I even made Carla take some belly shots of me with the water behind me. And of course, I had to get a couple with my hubby!

I was laughing- hence my face : )

so sweet

It was a great weekend!!

Baby Shower

Saturday, February 18 we were blessed by my mom's closest friends who threw us a beautiful baby shower. Friday I got home from school exhausted so I took a nap before we got on the road. We got to Kingwood and just chilled for the night. Saturday morning we got up and got ready for the shower. It was beautiful. I'll let the pictures share the story... (however, I am so mad my big camera died right after we got there- thankfully I had my point & shoot camera in my purse. I'm blaming pregnancy brain as to why I didn't check my battery).

Me, Mom, Jessica with the Hostesses

Mom & Me
Sisters-
she was so wonderful to drive down from Dallas for all my showers!! Love my sissy!
<3 it...future heartbreaker
Thomas the Train backpack so cute
Blanket my grandmother made him.
She told us the one square that is different is to remind me and baby that we are and never will be perfect. <3
Justins best friend got us this (along with a slew of other goodies). He said he has to learn his Star Wars characters young. Nerd Alert!! Justin had never seen any of the Star Wars until we were married so he is just as behind.
My moms cousin, Verna hand made this blanket for us! It is amazing. And it matches our room perfectly. I have already put it on the back of the glider. This was me practicing at rocking. : )

Mom & Verna- Verna drove from Arkansas to be here. She is amazing. Love her!

We were so lucky to have been blessed with another shower. It was a wonderful weekend full of family and friends. Mom cried during the shower a number of times because she was so overtaken with how much love was there. After the shower we crashed for the night.  Sunday we woke up and spent time with Verna before we all had to leave.

34 weeks- EEK!

Week 34
2-24-12

Size of the baby: large cantaloupe (19-22 inches, 5.5 pounds)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +10 - (I'm guessing I gained a pound this week) : )

Maternity Clothes: duh. glad it is getting warmer

Gender: little baby boy

Movement: You can see the hiccups through my shirt now. He is still moving and shaking. And its not just one spot in my belly now- its all over! (where as before he wasn't so big so it wasn't my WHOLE stomach moving but now it is)

Sleep: well when I hit the pillow I'm out, but once again heartburn and a full bladder are keeping me up---not to mention anxiety.

What I miss: sleeping on my back & stomach, not being achy, not crying at everything, being able to bend over, seeing my feet

Cravings: I haven't had so much cravings as much as I am eating things I normally don't like- such as applesauce & oatmeal.

Symptoms: cramping, nausea, exhausted, heartburn, ooooeeee charlie horses, emotional, testy real quick

Big News this week:
*Tuesday afternoon we met with our pediatrician for a pre-natal visit. He is a good ol' fashioned man, has two adopted sons and one of them goes to Baylor and is getting his engineering degree. Justin and him discussed engineering while I sat patiently pretending to understand what they were discussing.
*Tuesday night we had our Breastfeeding class. I liked the lady who taught it. I left the class this week very excited and hopeful that I will be good a nursing. It is crazy to think your body can do it!! Justin hates going to classes with me because he says I comment to him about everything and ask too many questions. Well...isn't the open for question part of the class where you ask your questions!!?! Justin would prefer me be quiet. : )
* Wednesday the glider arrived & Daddy put it together for us! I am so excited. It fit in the space I had for it perfectly and now the room really is almost all done!! Here I am sitting in the glider- my face is a little funny cause of the way I'm sitting but whatever- I'm fat and pregnant get over it. : )
*Wednesday I also took maternity photos. My friend, Kristy owns a photography business and she is fabulous. Well we had messaged back and forth and Wednesday we met at the George Bush Library and took some photos!! I love being on the other side of the lens every now and then! It was a lot of fun! She posted two on her facebook page last night. I can't wait to see the rest!! Here they are:

*Friday (which is technically day one of week 35) was a scary day. I called my doctor because I was having some problems. He told me to go ahead and go check into labor and delivery to get checked out to make sure nothing was wrong. Talk about panic. I was really just calling for them to assure me that everything was normal and this all happens at the end of pregnancy. Well I call Justin and he doesn't answer. I close up the library and head home thinking maybe Justin is outside mowing or something...nope I'm like a crying mess--- finally Justin answers and says he will meet me at the ER. We get checked in and they come and check. I apparently have an infection. Not good but better than something like my water breaking or something. So they hook me up with some meds and send us on our way. We both agree it was too early for us to be sitting in a L&D room! However, once I got hooked up and heard his sweet little heart racing I calmed down. Here I am posing for J : )
