Happy (Belated) Valentine's Day!!

when did my little baby become such a big boy!? I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing Valentine's day with the ones they loved. I know we did. Justin and I are so blessed to have such a sweet, healthy* little Valentine.

*semi-healthy- we went to the doctor on Valentine morning- he has thrush. No fun. I've been sanitizing everything like a crazy lady. His medicine is yucky and has two have two things of it- 4 times a day. Not a happy camper. 

Update on Life

Well hello there- long time no see. Really only two weeks but seems like longer...we have been busy.

We got Ascher a swing for the backyard and he LOVES it! I wanted to get it for him for Christmas but they were sold out everywhere! I finally found ONE swing at Toys R Us and we searched the store for a good 45 minutes and no employee even knew where it was- they said we'll it says we have one but that means we probably dont. I refused to give up and finally we found it! Two trips to Lowes, Justin on a step ladder, Ascher a nap and we had a swing in action.

He would swing all day if I would let him. He crawls to the back door and bangs on the glass as in like come on mom- its swing time. He holds onto the cords when its time to get out too! Silly boy. Too bad its been cold the past week- we haven't been able to swing! 

I am loving bible study on Tuesday mornings. It makes our week go by so fast and gives me something to look forward to ever Tuesday. You love the nursery so we are two peas in a pod on Tuesdays. We are still in Galatians- working our way through. Maybe one day I'll type out my notes and post them on here- I love learning. I got a new bible last week and I'm obsessed. I have been using my Student Bible from 1999 forever and I LOVE that bible. It has highlights and notes and the binding in coming apart but it was time for a new one. I got the Life Application NIV (pink) bible and I want to read more and more! It has great outlines, notes, commentary- I really have enjoyed it so far. 

Ascher LOVES to carry his toys around in his mouth. It is quite entertaining. I have a few videos of him with a toy in his mouth and then Pip will come and steal it out of his mouth. They play together so well. Its so funny to watch them. I just love it!

I had fun with Justin for Valentine's day. I had seen all over Pinterest doing something for him each day. Well I got a late start so he got a few presents each day to make my way to 14 presents. It was so much fun to be crafty successfully  (I say that because a lot of times I start a craft and give up because I don't like the way it is turning out).

Sunday we started P90X- I'll let you know how that works out. We did GREAT the first two days. Like hard core- committed. Then the second night we ate Cotton Patch for dinner then did the work out and I woke up at 2 am super nausea. Well come 4:30 I was hugging the toilet and again at 5:30 and 6:30. I think Cotton Patch made me sick. It was miserable. But THANK SWEET BABY JESUS my mom was in town so Tuesday I stayed in bed most of the day while Mom watched Ascher because every time I would try to get up and function I would wind up back in bed. I was super weak and still just didn't feel too good. Ever since my sickness- I have been slacking in the P90X area. I'm gonna get back on the wagon...after this weekend. ; )

Diapers: Size 3 Pampers Cruisers & Size 3 Huggies Nighttime Protection- end of month starting to wear size 4 at night

Eats: He is down to 3 meals a day, two snacks, and 4-5 bottles of soy milk. He eats breakfast around 8:30 which is yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, etc. He then eats a 6 ounce bottle. He has a snack at 10ish which is normally cereal of some sort, puffs, yogurt puffs, or yogurt (if he didn’t eat it with breakfast). Lunch is around 12:30 where he eats cheese, crackers, a veggie and a fruit. He follows lunch with a 4-5 ounce bottle. Snack time around 3- same snack as morning- I try to change it up each day. Juice & Water is in a sippy cup all day. Dinner is between 5:30-6. Depends on what we are eating he will eat what we eat. He really likes beef and chicken. He is not so keen on veggies- but we are trying. If we are eating something he can’t eat (no milk for him) he will have ravioli, mac and cheese, veggie/fruit cup. He then has a 5 ounce bottle. Before he goes to bed he gets one last 6 ounce bottle to help him drift away to sleep. *good news*- he can eat cheese and yogurt, hoping this means his allergy is slowly but surely going away. He still can’t handle certain things that have milk in them but I’ll take anything I can get. I am so happy he can have cheese and yogurt cause he LOVES both!

Sleeping: If Justin is leaving for work, he wakes up when Justin locks the door around 7:15-7:30- if Justin isn’t going to work he will sleep till 8:15ish. So nice. He takes a morning nap around 11 and has been sleeping a lot longer this month. I think it is because he is on the move all day so he passes out when he does go to sleep. He has been sleeping from 11-1 most days, at least until 12:30. He takes his afternoon nap around 3 and sleeps between an hour and an hour and a half. It really depends on what we have done that day. Then he goes to bed at 8 and sleeps thru the night. However, I am still putting him to sleep in our bed and then when we go to bed Justin moves him to his crib. When Justin moves him- he just lays down and goes right back to sleep. I love him sleeping 8pm-8am. I know it could go away at any moment so I am soaking up all the good nights sleep I can get!

Petting Pip—he has always loved Pip but now he likes to pet him- he goes over to him and rubs his hand along his back- only pulling on him half the time (haha)

He thinks anyone coughing or crying is hilarious. Terrible I know- but he just thinks it’s so funny

Melissa & Doug Truck Puzzle- I put it back together EVERY night. Every morning- he dumps it over and carries a different truck around all day long.

Dislikes:

falling and hitting his head- he crawled over his walker and fell into the tile- hard- he had quite the little knot- I watched him for signs of concussion- he was fine but I still worried

green peas & really starting to dislike all Stage 2 Baby Food or being fed at all- he wants to do it
changing clothes or diapers (tries to roll off changing table)—OMG this has gotten really bad. We have been at our wits end when it comes to this. It has been ridiculous.

Firsts & Events:
January was a pretty chill month. Lets see…

Not a first- but had his 2^nd ear infection- poor bubby- he did NOT like his medicine- wonder it worked considering half of it always came out

January 15: said Mama for the first time (crying in his crib for me to come get him- but I’ll take it)

Moved to “Crawler” room at church nursery- sad day for mama but you love it- you get to ride in a buggy, have indoor play, go to music class- you always take a great nap on Tuesday & Thursdays after bible study and MOPS.

Still no teeth, Saw your Great Grandma Hardy, swung at the park LOTS, follow me everywhere, took really good naps

Still make this mama the happiest I have ever been- we have so much fun every day and I can’t imagine myself doing anything else other than being a stay at home mama to my sweet baby boy. I am so blessed.

Walking!!

Ascher WALKED! 

This morning I went to the bathroom and I hear Justin saying, "Good job buddy keep going!" So I hurried into the living room and watched as my little newborn  10 month old walked across the room pushing his walker. I got the video camera and demanded....make him do it again!! (and again..and again) Here he is...so proud.

So I sent the video to my mom who wrote this poem in response- she is so good with words. I love it! I wanted to make sure I put it on the blog so I have a copy forever.

                                                                                I GOT THIS

I’ve been waiting for this for awhile

Since the first day I arrived.

I stretched, I kicked

I ate, I drank

I rolled over, I sat up.

I crawled, I stood

I held on to mom, to dad,

To the sofa

All in anticipation of this day…

And then…my great moment!

I put my hands on this moving, walking toy

But my unsteady feet caused me to go down to my knees

After trying to stand and balance.

I was happy to chew on the handle of the toy instead – BUT THEN –

My daddy lifted me to my feet, gently placed my hands

On the handle of the walking toy, steadied me, and asked me,

“You wanna walk?”

He then lovingly let me go –

He didn’t walk along with me

He didn’t dote on me

He stood back

With the utmost confidence that

The process would work –

That his son would succeed!

I’m upright –I’m moving forward

My face, my entire demeanor says, “I got this!”

Then, I look up at my mom (who is videoing)

What my face has already proclaimed

Then, as I chatter, and smile, and walk…
