Week 24: Bump Upda

Week 24
March 31 , 2014

size of baby: grapefruit! (getting bigger!!), 11.8 inches, 1.3 pounds

total weight gain/loss: doctor apt this week & according to their scale I'm +3! Woohoo for finally gaining weight. He said he would like me to start eating like a cow and gain at least 10 more pounds before delivery. I think I can handle that.

maternity clothes: yup. Finally got a cute pair of shorts that fit good and I don't look like a whale. Maternity clothes are so fickle. I am a small not in maternity but smalls in maternity eat my lunch and I have to get all XS.

gender: It's a GIRL! Had ultrasound this week and confirmed once again that it is indeed a little princess growing inside!

movement: Lots & Lots of movement! She is quite the tumbler. I asked Justin, do you think she is doing dance? or gymnastics? She also moves in response to Justins voice. When he gets home and starts talking she will move or at night when we are getting ready for bed Justin will put his hands on my tummy (granted they are always freezing) and tell her goodnight and she kicks him in response. So sweet...a daddy daughter bond before she is even out of the womb!

sleep: I don't know what I would do without my snoggle. I have been using it since like week 13 but the bigger I get the more I LOVE it. I was pretty tired this week so I slept like a rock just can't go back to sleep once I wake up to pee (thankfully its normally close to 6 when I have to go so it isn't too bad- I just lay there and rest)

cravings: ice, water, smoothies, sweets

what I miss: getting out of bed easily & being able to eat spicy without bending over and feeling like I'm on fire (heartburn)

symptoms: heartburn, back pain, moody when hungry, at night time my stomach is so tight its so uncomfortable - I keep telling myself it is because she is breached so she is laying side to side so by the end of the day my sides are stretched out and in pain! They are sooooo tight! I can hardly wait to lay down at the end of the day. My biggest complaint this week has been my back hurting though. Between lifting Ascher and just plain ol' pregnancy pain- yikes. The back has been feeling it.

thoughts:
  • Justin painted the nursery this weekend! We went with gray. I LOVE IT! As soon as he finishes touching up the top we are gonna put the crib together.
  • I am pretty sure I have picked out her bedding. Now just to order it. I can't find a white dresser I love anywhere. Who knew dressers were ridiculously expensive!?! I don't want a changing table/dresser like Ascher has. I want a full length dresser (like 71 inches not 50 inches).
  • I also decided on a double stroller. One of my friends was selling hers but it was super heavy and you had to take it completely apart to put it in the car so I've gone back to my original plan but with some calculating I think I've figured out how to save over $100 on it.
  • I had a doctor appointment this past Thursday. I just adore my doctors office. They are fabulous. It makes driving an hour and a half to see them not so bad. I asked all my questions like usual and then asked him to show me on the ultrasound I had how it was a girl (Justin and I couldnt see it) well he is fabulous and said well let me finish up with the girl in room one and then we will get another ultrasound and make sure 100% she is a girl. So we moved over to room one and sure enough she was sitting better than last ultrasound and this time you could see everything. She is definitely a girl!! He finished checking and I said wait can we look at her face!? I feel like we are always checking out her parts but never her face so he scrolled up and was like oh she is in a perfect position for a 3D picture! So he switched it over to 3D for me and she is BEAUTIFUL!! Ascher never really gave us a good view on his 3D ultrasound. I was so excited!!! He said sometimes at 24 weeks they are too bony and don't look like a very pretty baby but that she looked fabulous!!

Big Brother (Ascher) news:

  • still loves loving on his sissy! Every morning he says see sissy! give sissy truck!
  • went on an Easter Egg hunt for a MOPS playdate- he loved it! He is still talking about it. "open egg..candy!"

Going Private

I started blogging in 2007. That is a really long time ago. I LOVE blogging. But I didnt start blogging to become a "mommy blogger", write reviews, get followers, get paid to endorse something or get scrutinized. I blog because it is our familys scrapbook and my journal. I love it.

But with Ascher getting older and with another baby on the way I think its time for this little blog to go private. If you read and want to continue to read I'll happily add your email to the list so that you can continue to read. I just want to be aware of who is reading and knowing all the details of our little life. I hope that family & friends will give me their email and I can add it to the list. I'll leave it open for a week or so to give everyone time to comment/email me before I make the switch. I'm excited to keep blogging...going on 7 years...I dont think I could quit now!

So please comment below if you want to be added to the list. And if you are family message/text/call and I'll add you on!!

Week 23: Bump Update

Week 23
March 24 , 2014

size of baby: pomegranate, 11.4 inches, 1 lb!!!
total weight gain/loss: negative 4 this week- maybe I just weighed in on an off day

maternity clothes: pretty much yes unless I am at home. This week I would put on a maternity top and leave on my pj pants. I dont want anything tight on my stomach and my pj pants are so much more comfy! The pest guy came to the door and Im sure he thought I was nuts. I had on a coral top with black marvin the martian pj pants. HAHA

gender: It's a GIRL! The outfits I talked about last week came in & her first headband! Look how cute!

movement: I can tell now when she is sleeping vs awake. Normally between 5-7 she is very quiet and then come bath time and getting Ascher ready for bed she goes nuts. It is such a neat feeling. I LOVE every little kick/movement she makes!

sleep: Knocked out every night when I hit the pillow--- however this week if I woke up at any point during the night I could NOT go back to sleep. I would toss and turn before finally getting situated as Ascher would wake up, Justins alarm would go off and/or the workers would start working on house next door/behind us.

cravings: blueberry cake donuts, warm desserts (strawberry cake, cookies), WHOLE milk, crushed ice, lemonade

what I miss: not being a fire breathing dragon (heartburn)

symptoms: heartburn, back pain, bloody nose, kidney stones and/or bladder infection. The terrible side pain I've been feeling the past two weeks apparently was kidney stones again. (Had them exact same week with Ascher). It has NOT been fun but they haven't been near as bad as they were with Ascher. I kept saying they were growing pains (even though the pain was NOT where growing pains happen- ignorance is bliss right??) I cut everything out except water and occasionally lemonade

thoughts:
  • Had my first MOPS this past Friday and it was fabulous! I am so glad to be involved again and get to know moms who have young kids as well
  • Hoping my nesting will kick in soon. It has semi-started but not full fledged like I want
Big Brother (Ascher) news:

  • Ascher turned 2 this week!!! I can't believe he is TWO years old. Whole separate post on his birthday

  • We played at the park this week and Ascher loves to climb all over everything. He is also obsessed with playdoh.
  • Not quite sure about sharing his baby seat & toys with little sister just yet

  • Has to have multiple stories told to him before he goes to sleep at night (not books- made up stories about our day and/or monster trucks in the dirt/water. Ends his day by saying, "Mommy sing"
  • One afternoon he was freaking out sobbing because he didn't want to take a nap and all of a sudden he got real quiet and said, "mama sing" I was so surprised I said,  mama sing??? and he said YES! Week 22: Bump Update

Week 22
March 17 , 2014

size of baby:  papaya, 10.9 inches, 12.25 ounces

total weight gain/loss: still negative 3

maternity clothes: give and take. jeans- yes. running shorts/pjs/anything with stretchy band- no. Tops- yes for most part. However, if we are going to play outside I throw on a tshirt and its way tight but all my maternity shirts are nice- no "play" clothes.

gender: It's a GIRL! I may or may not have bought her her first headband & 2 rompers (a wine colored Aggie one & a teal one) They should be here next week!

movement: OMG- yes. On Thursday night, Justin and I were sitting on the couch and he was like oh wow. It looks like she is rolling over! I said SHE IS!! And I also love that now when he touches my stomach he feels ALL her movement. Before it was the big ones he felt. Now he feels all of them. She also moves a lot at night time.

sleep: pretty good other than the fact they are framing the house next door to us along with the house behind us and start work at 6:45 am and are still working at 8:45 pm. It doesn't bother me as much as it wakes Ascher up then his whole day is screwed up. However, I tell myself they need to work hard and long now so that by July when I have 2 babies it will be quiet. I did fall asleep one night with Ascher. Some days I am just exhausted and others I'm a ball of energy.

cravings: ice cream (yet I dont want that much once I have it), lemonade, grapes covered in jello dust (YUMMY- but I can only eat a few so sugary), hot dogs & deli meat (two things I'm not supposed to eat a lot of)

what I miss: being able to get out of bed easily, arms not falling asleep from laying on them

symptoms: a nasty after taste in my mouth after everything I eat (especially drinks), side aches- not near as bad this week- (I cut all drinks except water and that seems to help), out of breath easily, emotional (I cried a number of times about Ascher and how he was my baby and how could I love another baby as much as I love him), MAJOR heartburn- DEFINITELY can not lay down after eating or when I get up I literally can breathe fire!

thoughts:
  • We ordered her crib this week!! WOOHOO! I knew if we were having a boy he would get Aschers crib and Ascher would get big boy furniture but if it was a girl I wanted her to have a white crib and then she could transition into my old white daybed. Plus, Aschers crib converts to a big boy bed so it seemed silly to buy more furniture for him especially with the fact that it is a girl. So we ordered her the low profile Kendall gate crib from Pottery Barn! I'm super excited. It shipped yesterday!!
  • Justin and I had date night on Monday night. My dad got us tickets to see Luke Bryan. He was amazing. I've always liked him but after Monday night I have a total man crush.
  • Tuesday night Justin had his first ever softball game with the company he works for. We always went and watched them play when we lived in College Station but this season they convinced him to be on the team. I can't wait to go watch one of his games. This week his games were late so we didn't go. Maybe next week.
Big Brother (Ascher) news:

  • He loves "sissy". He gives all his toys to sissy and wants to watch "babies" on youtube. He is going to be such a good big brother.
  • He had his first real fit this week. We let him throw his fit in the bedroom and ignored him and eventually he came back out and wanted to eat dinner and cuddle.
  • The weather has been gorgeous this week! We have lived outside every day. Every morning we have had something (Bible Study, play date at park, errands), then we come home eat lunch & he takes nap and then when nap time is up we go BACK outside and when Justin gets home we stay outside until dinner. He ADORES being outside.
