Brother Sister

A few weeks ago I photographed a brother sister pair on campus. I loved shooting them! The sister is actually a dear friend of mine. We have grown up together and been friends since middle school, went on to college together where we were twins in our sorority (same big sis) and still are good friends. I told her brother he can't already be in college, he was just her little brother who was in elementary school!!! Here are a few of my favorites...

EEEK too many to pick...more will be on my facebook fan page "Lauren Knight Photography" soon

Tribes Training & Graduations

I am determined tonight to catch up on my blogging world. Almost a month ago I went to my last two days of TRIBES training. It is such a great training and I really enjoyed myself. I have been using the strategies in my classroom almost every day. I also got to know a girl that teaches 2nd grade at my school a lot better and I really enjoyed hanging out with her as well. I wouldn't have wanted to go to training with anyone else. We had to drive to Houston and spend the night for two nights together so we definitely knew each other by the end of it : ) I wish I would have taken some pictures of everyone at training but no such luck.

I hurried home on Friday to get to Kason's (my brother in law) graduation. We got there a good hour before it started but when you graduate from Texas A&M there are A LOT of people there. We sat with the whole family and honestly were bored out of our minds. Who goes to a graduation and has fun? Even when I graduated I remember sitting next to Kristy and both of us being like...when is this gonna be over!? Granted, she was pregnant and wanted it to be over more than me. : ) I did take a few pictures and the one of me and my niece I stole from my sister-in-law!
Ella, my niece and I played with our programs and fanned each other in between sniffing in each other ears and her taking pictures of everyone. Gotta love 2.5 year olds!
Kason getting his diploma. I know these pictures aren't very good but I was exhausted and grouchy at graduation so I wasn't in the mood to be taking pictures...but I tired my best.
Lastly, what is an Aggie graduation without the singing of The Spirit of Aggieland and the FAMOUS war hymn ended with an enthusiastic WHOOP!!

Where have I been?

So I have totally been MIA, but for good reason. I have been non-stop and it isn't about to slow down!! First the exciting things...

Tomorrow: last day of school for all but 2 of my kiddos (more on this later), photography shoot x2- one at 4 with a bride (just some location shots) and one at 6 with a brother sister pair on campus!

This weekend:
Kason & Carla's Wedding

Next weekend:
trip to Bandera, Texas for rodeo with justins best friend (gotta go get me some boots, any suggestions?)

June 4th- Last day of FYP! My school district does a flexible year plan so if my kiddos passed their TPRI, got an S in math as an average, and missed less than 8 days they get to go home tomorrow, if not they have to stay till June 4th.

I was informed today though...I will be leaving my first grade babies. For THIRD grade. I am semi-freaking out. I LOVE LOVE LOVE third grade. I did my student teaching with third grade, but I am so in the mind set of little 1st graders, third grade math freaks me out. Not to mention, they have a large number of kids staying so instead of having a few kids (5-1 teacher ratio), I will have 16 kids- all of whom didn't pass TAKS. I know my principal has faith in the 3rd grade team and me as well if she is willing to move me for FYP. I keep looking at it as such a wonderful opportunity. Every few minutues, I get really excited and then I get really sad to be leaving my first graders. I am so nervous yet super excited. So starting Friday I will be a third grade teacher. We will see where I end up after that...it is all in the air about where I will be (as in grade level) next year so keep that in your prayers!!

I'll leave you with a shot or two from the graduation pictures I did on campus last week:

Until the Whole World Hears

Friday night could not have been more perfect. We had not gone on a "date" since we got married. Justin said we have but going to eat in what I wore to school, no fresh d.o. and no new makeup seems more like "dinner out" than "Date Night." Friday night Justin and I both got dressed up for the concert and headed to dinner at Chilli's. (Our favorite dinner spot) After dinner we headed to Reed Arena for the concert. Pip & Justin have become BFF- mans best friend...no lieStill mommy's babyBefore we left

We get inside and a band was playing and we both were like thats not Tenth Avenue North....who is this? The guy keeps playing and starts talking about how his sister......____ ____ Chapman went to be with the Lord last May and then it hit me...OMG this is Steven Curtis Chapmans two sons!!! OMG! I started freaking out. This was going to be even better than orginally planned. He sang some songs and ended with the song he wrote after his sisters death about waiting on the Lord. SOOO GOOD!

Next, Tenth Avenue North came on. (amazing video on this link- any other way journal and The Healing Begins on their new album is also amazing) They were hilarious and amazing. I loved them. The main singer was just so real with everyone and had the best analogy. He made us all put our hands in the air. He talked about how you can't look good doing that so just to it. Then he said you may be that super spiritual person who comes to church with your flags raised and arms up the whole service...and if you are i love ya..but thats not all of us. He said it isnt about us. His analogy was as follows... when a young child wants to be held by his/her father...where do their arms go? Up in the air as to say Hold me daddy...I need you to hold me! I loved it. Such a new take on it...Tenth Avenue North has now become one of my favorite bands. They were just so great!

Next Casting Crowns came on. As you all know, OBSESSED. They are so amazing. I love every single one of their songs. Something I love about a christian concert was they come on and ask you "Who came here tonight to worship our Lord!?"- it wasn't about them as artists, us as people but as a body of believers who came together to shout to the Lord! Oh just thinking about it I get in the best mood. The Lord was just moving in that place. Oh I would go to a concert every night of the week! Casting Crowns were great. They came on at 8, sang till 9 intermission for 20 minutes then sang for another hour and half! AMAZING!

Saturday the boys went to Kason's bachelor party and Carla & I headed to Houston to surprise Ragan for her birthday. It was so much fun! I love that I have sisters...all 5 of them...it is such a blessing to have sisters. Anyways, we hung out at Ragans, went and got a snow cone, caught up and headed to dinner where we met my roommate from college, Chelsea. After dinner and a few pictures (reliving our sorority days- funny thing is the only reason I ever met J is because of Delta Gamma and Ragan so thank the Lord for putting me in the right sorority at the right time) *Ragan- 2 years older than me *Me * Carla- year younger than me

Carla & I headed back to CS and chilled before heading to bed. It was such a fun Saturday. Happy Birthday Ragan!! Love you!

I had such a busy fun weekend. I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Got to spend time worshiping the one and only wonderful Lord with my husband followed by spending the whole next day with two of my best friends and sisters!! God is good and I am truly blessed.

The Word of the Lord for Thought

Proverbs 14

1 The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

2 He whose walk is upright fears the LORD,
but he whose ways are devious despises him.

3 A fool's talk brings a rod to his back,
but the lips of the wise protect them.

happiness

This weekend was a blast! Friday Justin ended up getting home so I was super excited- we watched tv and sat around like usual. Saturday we got up and I took Pip on a walk. I am determined to walk walk walk! We have been going 2.3 miles a day! (Well today, Monday, is only my second day but Im proud) When we got home Kimberly called to see if I wanted to lay out..YES!! Hello, Kason & Carla's wedding is in like 4 weeks and I am pale as can be! So I went over there and laid out. I was only out there for an hour and a half and I am a little pink....Saturday night Justin and I headed to eat on our remaining gift cards from when I was sick. Jason Deli was just right. Justin had a headache so the rest of the night we watched tv as usual and just loved being together.

Sunday morning we got up and made breakfast before heading to church. It was such a good sermon. He was talking about Psalms 23:1 and how we need to be his sheep and there are two things a shepherd does. Protects & Guides. So we have to let him protect and guide us. He also talked about how when you find a good herd (church) let them become your herd...stick together. Summer of 2004 my dad suprised us and took us to the David Project- AMAZING! I still can sing the whole CD! I just spent the past 45 minutes trying to find it on youtube, the internet anything...no luck. I have put mom on research, she is going to try and find it. *Update* found it...here is a link to the songs...Psalms 23...love!

After church I headed to Katy for Carla's Katy Shower. It was a 3 hour drive there and back but it was totally worth it. I wasn't sure on Sunday because my allergies had been so bad but being with two of my sisters-in-law was a perfect way to spend my sunday afternoon. The shower was beautiful and Carla opened presents for hours! The lady sitting next to me at the shower said she probably got enough to furnish two houses, haha, not really! : ) Overall it was a beautiful day with a house full of beautiful people who all love Carla. You could really see how Carla has been such a shining up-right woman for all these woman to love and adore her and Kason so much. I am proud to call her my sister. Carla and I have joked often God knew not only would Kason & Carla be perfect, Justin and I would be perfect but that Carla & I woudld be perfect for each other when dealing with the boys! : ) I cant believe the wedding is less than a month away! It seems like just yesterday that got engaged...crazy its been a year and a half! I can't wait to see Carla as a beautiful bride in just a few short weeks. Here are some of my favorites from yesterday.... (Carlas blog has the rest)

Brad- I am jealous- I want one.We didn't even plan to match!

It was a great weekend! Yesterday I was super crabby once I got home and headed to bed but today was wonderful!!
